I came across this Flickr Photostream of the Deep Ellum Tunnel in Dallas before it was demolished last year. I never had a chance to see it myself, but the paintings (er, graffiti) are really cool.

I didn’t realize it had been torn down; that’s a big shame. I have fond memories from my Waco years of making day trips to Dallas, hitting Good Records, driving down the street and through the tunnel to catch a concert in Deep Ellum.
The tunnel, and Deep Ellum in general, gave Dallas a lot of character, something which it frequently lacks compared to Houston.
